money. With funding at stake, schools

scramble to assure prayer is allowed.

By Ben Feller  AP Education Writer   WASHINGTON -- Threatened with the loss of federal money, the  vast majority of the nation's schools have declared that they allow prayer, wherever and  however the Constitution permits.

FAITH BELONGS IN OUR SCHOOLS

Our pledge of allegiance says,One nation, under God, and with liberty and justice for all. As we look back over the years since prayer was outlawed in schools, what do we find? Is there liberty to practice one's Spiritual Beliefs in our Schools? Is there justice in denying our youth the opportunity to find and know a God that loves them and supports them. A God that is always there to help and guide them. In our nation of financial inequality is it justice to leave our children without a higher power to lean on when both parents often have to work to put food on the table? Is it liberty not to be taught that what you sow, you reap, that there is accountability for one's actions beyond the human realm?  The Golden Rule seems to have changed. It is now, He who has the gold, makes the rules. Is this justice?  I believe that how you worship God is a personal choice.  I believe that just because people have differences of opinion on how God should be worshipped is not a valid reason to kick Him out of the foundation of our country, our schools and our youth.  I am asking everyone, no matter what their faith, to join with me in signing this petition to allow God back in our schools where He should never have been removed. Together we can make a difference. Stand up for liberty and justice for all.  Everyone should be able to choose to believe or choose not to believe without prejudice.                                                                                            Beverly Parks
